A new graphics engine isn't going to make low-poly art suddenly look better. Your current character models won't look better in a new engine. The old zones won't look better in a new engine. The engine is just the rendering. It can't change the low-poly art into something better. Blocky textures won't suddenly increase in resolution and depth.

To do the kinds of things you're suggesting, you'd be better off making a whole new game. Oh wait... We are. EQ Next.
