It's actually called "Hero's Journey" (golden path is just the nickname for it). Dzarn and Absor talked a bit about it in the webcast: http://forums.station.sony.com/stat..._id=11500038823

Essentially it's a collection of hand-picked existing quests tied together by achievements that will give you a guided progression through content (and offers some rewards along the way that will help gear up your character). It's totally optional, but I saw a bit of the work Dzarn put into it, and I think it's going to make leveling up a new character a lot of fun.
