Hey there,

We would like to get your feedback on the default UI. Community Leader minimind has put together these examples of what can be done to improve. We'd like to get your feedback. If you have examples of your own, feel free to share them!

Note: Just to be clear, this is NOT about modifying the UI xml. This is about changing the default layout of the windows, etc. when you create a new character. As such it ONLY affects people making new characters.

Newb UI Arrangement v2 (MyNewbUI INI)

Main Notes Overall:

  1. Supported resolutions: (1024x768), (1280X1024), (1680x1050), (1920x1080)
  2. All pieces are default.
  3. This is not intended to be the end-all UI arrangement, but it's a definitely improvement over the current settings.
  4. There are no UI components with alpha fade by default, but most components are at 75% alpha to facilitate both text clarity and environmental visibility (Most necessary with lower resolutions).
  5. No window is locked in place. This way, newbies can stretch or move windows to fit their own tastes (see #2). It should also be suggested that once one finds the perfect fit, locking as many objects as possible makes for fewer distractions in hectic situations.
  6. The potion belt's two slots are hidden offscreen to save space.
  7. Some screenshots didn't render the transparency correctly... or there was something wrong with GIMP.
Main Changes from v1:

  1. EQ button is in a more immediately and visible location.
  2. The assumed default archetype is "hybrid" to lessen necessary personal customizations.
  3. The Extended Target Window has been integrated (more effectively with higher resolutions).
  4. Buff and Song windows are smaller as newbies will not likely have many buffs.
  5. The Aura window has been removed since the newbie will not use it until, at least, level 55.
  6. The chat windows are labeled a bit more descriptively than "Chat 2" and "Chat 3"
