If you want to add Dev confirmation, but the same augs will be in the new level of an evolving item, re-created or transfered we have no way of knowing but augs staying has been the case for years in evolving items of all types.
Thanks. I will trust that the players are correct. So it does currently do proper diligence with the augs, just not other item instance data.
