The map package has several layers of Labels. Some zones have 4 different colored labels for each marker. basically spamming teh entire map with text and making all the tags mix into eachother making them all useless.
Worst thing is they are all in teh 2nd layer so you are stuck with seeing all of em or none of em.
Yeah, we are aware of the issue.
We are editting them as we can. This is a result of multiple people uploading maps with different labels on them. The software tries to dedupe them as it can, but what's left has to editted manually. Xyrre was able to get through a couple of expansions this weekend. Hopefully we will get through a couple more tonite.

we're working on cleaning up the dupes. If you can give us some zone names, we can clean them up quicker.

When was the last time you downloaded the maps? So far, I have completed the basic Everquest through LDoN expansions. You might want to go back and get those. I also plan to work on the colors for layer 2, once that is set up. Will work on more as I get time.
yea i thought something wierd was going on.. as well i was getting the map for blighfire in crescent reach.. wierd.
the main problem im having is the base layers are not included in this package and eq does not download the base layer. im recently returning so i dont rememebr if eq is supposed to or not.
for instance, the patcher does not download butcher.txt. as well thier is no butcher.txt in the all maps pack.
is the patcher supposed to download the base layers for me? and i get _1 and _2 from here?
ive deleted the maps folder many times and have checked all expansions just to be sure i get all maps from the patcher. i get some.. but not nearly all.
so if the patcher doesnt download the base layers and i cant get them here as well then what do i do?

BTw I downloaded the map pack on thursday or wensday of last week.
Ok, most of the changes I made up to and including LDoN were done on Thursday and Friday.
I haven't played in years, but it's my understanding that EQ generates the file you are refering to as "base layer" (the one without a number) when you enter a given zone. It generates the file from the _1, _2 and _3 files in the maps directory (it basically just combines them). I don't remember specifically, but I think it may not generate the file if it already exists, someone else will have to confirm or deny this.Quote:

When you zone in to a zone it shows all layers of the maps you have. Base, 1, 2, and 3.
If you edit a base layer map, next time you patch it will be replaced. It doesn't generate any maps on the fly.
Ok, except for the dupes that have completely different locs, I believe I have fixed them all now. If you download after today and find more dupes, let me know.

NOTE:
ALOT of zonelines have duplicat tags still. But as you mentioned this is because they do not have the same location.
Tuxxilia Forrest: Both ZL to Erudin and Paineel have double tags
Everfrost Peaks: ZL to Blackburrow, Permafrost ( note other tag is called to permafrost caverns) and halas.
Icefall glacier: seems to have the wrong Zone tags on it.
Last tiem I check you couldnt zone from Icefall to kitchkor.
The steppes: same as above
Gorku Mesa: same as above : wrong zone tags
Cresent reach: same as above
Blightfire moors: same as above
Sunderock Springs: same as above
Vergalind mines: same as above
Direwind Cliffs: same as above
Highpass Hold: same as above
infact cresen treach tags seem to have been split over atleast 2 other maps. If I was a betting man Id say it has to do with how you tag North central Antonica. Or mayeb just teh new expansion.
PoK: still has 3 tags pr point and 1 is in german.
hmmm odd Once I manually zone into a zone I get 1 map but if I use the atlass I get a different map/
Scratch the above thread. I will now only congirm zones ive manually entered. Might be worth lookin into what tags the atlass uses tough.
Because at current moment If i zone into PoK regular like I get a clean good map with 1 tag pr point and its really nice, however.
If while im in PoK I use my Atlas fucntion to check out another zone the atlas maps wont reflect the actual tags I get when I get there. This is slightly annoying. However more annoying is that if i use the atlas to get to get the map of PoK backup I will no longer have teh nice and clean version I had when I gated in. I will be stuck with a messy versions with 3 different tags pr point and 1 which is in german.
I then have to zone out of pok. Beeing bound and using gate does not reset the map. Only a reload of the zone will return my PoK map to itso rigional nice state. Also note that levanting inside teh zone does not reset the zone map to the origional clean look. Only a zone change does that

i'm not even sure how what to think of this. Let me mess with it and see what i get.
its basically just the tags that change.
