Yes it's not a problem because you can completely bypass the area by doing something that if the devs thought of they would have probably just disabled lev in there too.
Lev was intentionally left on in this zone (plus, floating out from high places is fun).
There shouldn't be any SOS mobs in the zone (except for possibly rares). Looking into it, as some have said Probers can see through SOS.
