Actually it came up several times both in the forums and at Fan Faire in panels. People asked for a way to spend AA so they weren't sitting at the cap getting the error message about being unable to gain any more xp.
Seemed like a rather harmless, humorous thing to implement that literally took a couple minutes to create.
