1 Bayle Mark will pay for 15 minutes of mercenary upkeep. It does not matter the platinum cost of upkeep, except mercs that cost 0 platinum will also cost 0 Bayle Marks. If you have Bayle Marks, Bayle Marks will be consumed first. Once you are out of Bayle Marks, the mercenary will go back to charging platinum.
Because it is just 1 Bayle Mark for 15 minutes, there is no direct corollary between Bayle Marks and Platinum. Players may place a Vale on Bayle Marks, but they are no trade, so there will not be a player market for them anyway.
Pricing has not yet been decided on these.
You still have to use platinum to pay the initial hire cost for a mercenary.
At this time there are no plans for "Premium Power" mercenaries on the marketplace. It is more reasonable that there will be premium race mercenaries, but there are also no current plans for them in the marketplace. For now those are just special game achievements or Legends of Norrath. These premium race mercenaries are no more powerful than a standard mercenary, just a unique race/texture. I.E. just a visual difference.
We have no plans to allow any use for Bayle Marks except to pay mercenary fees.
