The Artisan Charm is not affected by restricted tradeskills. Fletching would be needed to max your charm, research would not have any affect at all.
Actually Research is no longer a restricted tradeskill so an upgraded charm could use it towards max stats. Though a proper skillup path for melee/hybrids would be desperately needed there for fairness.
I still consider it restricted since some classes cannot max it without spending AA.
