It's definitely on our list of stuff we want to do, but the complications Rashere mentioned are still there. It's possible for you to have a faction at the maximum (2000) but still be KOS due to reaction modifiers on a particular NPC.
I agree, it would be REALLY cool. I know it'd help me a lot.
